Thanks for following us Mirror Universe ISS Enterprise folks! I put together this introduction to help you out if you’re new to our com channel. ~Briana
"Borrowed from Commander Trip Tucker"
The following is an “out-of-character” (OOC) introduction to our Twitter Fiction:
“So what is this thing?”
Well, it’s part role-play, part fan-fiction at 140 characters at a time.
We’re a friendly bunch and we are trying for an actual ongoing fan-fiction story of some sort. Some of the action is thoroughly planned behind-the-scenes between the players ahead of time and some of it is completely spontaneous and made-up as we go along. The results vary from the serious to the action-packed, and from the angstful to the somewhat silly. Take a look at the Enterprise blog entries for an idea of what eventually results.
NOTE: Please be aware that the Mirror Universe tends to be a bit more PG-13 and FAR less canon than the main one.
“I want to hang out and watch the story develop.”
Great! To watch and read is simple, just add the characters to those you follow on Twitter and be sure that you have your settings to show @replies.
BE WARNED! As our group grows, so does the complexity of our fiction and volume of our tweets! It can be a lot to keep up with at first.
In otherwords, as a group, we tweet a LOT. Really. A lot. (If you’re only following one or two characters it shouldn’t be that bad.) This is unlikely to change, and you might find it a bit overwhelming. We completely understand if it’s too much to keep up with, especially if you’re following on a mobile device. (See below for some suggestions on making following us a bit easier.)
On the other hand, it might sometimes seem as if we are completely silent. We’re not. In fact, we may simply be madly tweeting away with someone you’re not following. The main characters do try to do stand-alone tweets occasionally so that you don’t have to follow everyone in order to understand the story. We’re getting better at this as time goes by.
To make following all of us a little less painful we suggest trying out several Twitter clients to see what works best for you. So far we can recommend the following:
Tweetdeck is probably the easiest to setup. It allows you to orgainize the tweeters you follow into different groups, so you could setup an Enterprise group, the Mirror Universe as a different group, and your other non-fictional tweeters (friends, etc.) as other groups.
Seesmic is another nice client, though it takes a bit more time to setup than Tweetdeck. It also lets you organize everybody into different groups, and you can add multiple twitter accounts as well.
Some people create separate Twitter accounts just for following fictional characters. This might work best for you if you’re following on a mobile device, and using a mobile client like Tweetie, where you can move between different Twitter accounts.
One web-based client is Filttr - on it you can set Enterprise members priorities to “Less” when you can’t keep up with us.
If you prefer, you can add us to your RSS Newsreader. Each character now has their own RSS feed on their Twitter profile page. You can also find all the Star Trek Twitter time lines as RSS feeds here: http://subspace.frijole.info/ We’re currently working on a RSS feed choices (one for the Main Universe and one for the Mirror Universe, and one for all of us.)
More suggestions as we come across them. We’re looking at creating some kind of feed over and FriendFeed and Soup. Please feel free to comment and give your fellow fans some ideas.

“I want to join in! How can I do that?”
You can simply interact with us if you like. We’re real friendly and respond to @replies.
“But I want to be a character”
We are not actively looking to add new characters to our already fairly large group.
Please bear in mind that it takes quite a bit of organization and teamwork to do what we’re doing. Because of that we have a behind-the-scenes email list for the players where we keep in contact with each other and plan some things out. (It does tend to spoil some of the mystery and illusion for the players.)
Players themselves need to be willing and able to work together, show good judgment, share the spotlight, be careful about not overwhelming followers with tweets overall, and (mostly) stick with canon to make it work for everyone. Oh, and a tolerance for the sometimes silly helps.
As our group grows, it gets more complicated to stay organized and adding new people to the group is tricky, so we’re being a little more careful about adding players or characters to our group.
“What if I have questions?”

And once again, welcome! Our audience of followers is very much appreciated and we hope you have as much fun following as we’re having tweeting.
