So for those that follow me on Twitter- you noticed I tweeted about an explosion in my neighborhood. Let me assure you- I tweeted while I was on hold with 911.
And yes, one of the homes here had an explosion last night. The house is gone. The occupant is in stable condition (we asked today), however she has lost everything she owned. We might be doing a Donation Drive to at least get some clothes and basic necessities-if we can contact her and see if that's okay?
When I got to the house last night it was engulfed in flames, I started steering people back away from the flames and the tree that was catching on fire. I didn't notice where Patrick had gotten too.
Patrick had arrived first and found the woman in the middle of the road, yet still close to the home and the heat was unbearable. With assistance from a few of the other neighbors they safely moved her to a better area. Patrick stayed with her and was talking to her till the paramedics arrived. There was nothing else he could do for her-she was semi-conscious and badly burned. He also got a little singed from the heat- still has some red marks on his arm from where he was facing the fire.
Yeah, I was a nervous wreck when I found out how close he'd been to the flames, but also so very proud of him.
We're both okay, the woman is in stable condition today. And no other property in the neighborhood was damaged.
Remember take time to tell your loved one's how you feel.
*Peace*
back to hw...
That was very wonderful of you and Patrick to go out and help and keep
others away from danger.
I know it's hard but always try and keep track of each other in an
enmergancy like that.
I'm proud of both of you! So many people these days don't help, only watch.
Thank you for letting us know you're both safe. :-)
aww thank you! It's that old military training-it just kicks in. :D
We tried not to lose each other-however I had to go back in the house to
use the phone and he didn't wait...
and oy yeah, all the peep's I kept telling to stay back where just
watching-not even trying to help. oh well...maybe they didn't know what to
do? Although I'm sure you can see it on youtube as someone was filiming it
with their cell phone. sigh...

Welcome to my world! When ever I respond to a call, there's lots of people
near by that could of helped but most are filming or blogging.
Sometimes it sucks being a cop.
Tell Patrick Great Job! from me please.
Amazing, Miclhelle, that explosion and fire. Quite a local event- and it's
good to hear that the homeowner survived. Fantsatic, that. Good she's
receiving real help :-) ~ Jon
Cap'n I will, and he said "Thank you! just doing what's the right thing to
do."
to Jon
thank you and yes, she is very lucky. I am sure it could have been much
worse. I'm just glad we were able to help in a way. Patrick did the best!!!
:D
